Bio

Swami Vireshananda joined the Ramakrishna Order in 1992 at Ramakrishna Math in Chennai. He served in the publication department in Chennai Math for four years. Then, in Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysore, he served in the publication department of the Kannada Monthly journal Viveka Prabha for eight years (2000-2008). He became the editor of Viveka Prabha from 2008 to 2014.

He participated in a rural outreach programme for students called Jnanavahini for nearly 10 years, conducting personality development workshops based on Swami Vivekananda’s life and message in more than 400 villages and towns, reaching over 100,000 students, staff, and villagers.

From 2014 to 2018, he served as an Acharya (teacher) at the Probationers’ Training Centre in the Headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission in Belur Math, teaching Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, Indian philosophy, and Ramakrishna-Vivekananda literature to Brahmacharins (novices). In 2018, he moved to Australia as Assistant Minister of the Sydney Vedanta Centre, serving both Sydney and Adelaide centres. He returned to India in 2020 to serve as the 37th Editor of Prabuddha Bharata, the oldest English spiritual journal in India, started by Swami Vivekananda in 1896. Presently, he is serving at Ramakrishna Math, Bengaluru.
