Bio

Rucha Kapare is the Head of Business Analysis at Springer Nature Digital Pune. Working on something new everyday keeps her motivated. She is an agile and product development enthusiast.

She has a decade of work experience and during this time she realised that the yearly performance cycle is the most important yet the most important ignored aspect by individuals could be because of the negative sentiment attached to it. She is a strong believer in ‘Performance Kaizen’ i.e making this cycle lightweight, engaging and gamifying it for an individual's development.

She likes to facilitate meetings and workshops and also conduct sessions on Business Analysis and agile related topics. Being a Business Analyst and a Business Agility Meetup leader gives her ample opportunities to facilitate, share and learn.

She is a travel freak and loves reading and it's been an old love reunion during the pandemic. She relates to a lot of social causes and in her free time you will find her working for these or chilling with her parents and family.

Overview

In IT, everyday at work we apply & teach Agile product development principles with great ease & we never miss to mention that these can be applied in the non IT world too.(after all that's where it came from)

But how often have we tried to do that? In this case study, we share with you how we are applying Kanban principles to a small-scale ladoo(Indian sweet) business and the benefits business owners are getting from this approach. The business owners feel enabled to think big, visualize their entire business easily, plan to export their products and at the same time have been able to derive tangible actions for their day-to-day schedule. We will walk through a framework which we have created using some existing techniques, the challenges we faced during the execution and the successes it brought.

It is a lightweight framework. With the pandemic a lot of small scale businesses which are based out of people’s houses have flourished and this framework can be easily applied to such small business/start ups. With this framework we are trying to live Agile & Kanban beyond IT.
